Sick of paying the single supplement? Looking for someone to share your adventures (and hotel bill) with? GoPal could be your saving grace.
The new website aims to connect like-minded travellers based on age, gender, travel style and bucket list destinations. Travellers from all over the world can fill out a profile and start chatting to people with the same interests and holiday ideas.

Membership is free and open to everyone. GoPal launched in December 2018 but already has a wide network of sign-ups from twenty-something backpackers and to over 50’s cruise lovers. You can filter your results so you don’t have to pour through pages and pages of dreadlocked surfers and gap-year partygoers.
While the primary aim of the site is to connect people with their ultimate travel buddy, it also helps people avoid the extra costs of travelling solo. Say goodbye to the single supplement! When you’re travelling on a budget, being able to split the cost of a hotel room, taxi ride or airport transfer can really take the pressure off the purse strings.
However, GoPal founder and director, Bruce Southerden, says it’s about more than just saving money and sidestepping single supplements.
“It’s about tapping into a world of other travellers who also want someone to travel with, so that you can feel safe and free to travel anywhere, anytime and anyhow – independently, on cruises, on group tours. Our mission is to help people realise their dreams, live fuller lives and be healthier and more active” says Southerden.
Another perk? GoPal members receive exclusive discounts from travel brands such as Booking.com, Expedia, Webjet, Princess Cruises, P&O and Accor. Better still, GoPal will donate one per cent of every travel booking to certified environmental organisations through ‘1% for the Planet’.
