Itinerary

Day 1 Broome
Your holiday begins with a flight into Broome Airport where you are met by your local coach captain and transferred to your hotel in the heart of the town affectionately known as the ‘pearl of the north’.

Day 2 Broome
Arrive at Willie Creek Pearl Farm to discover how the Australian South Sea Cultured Pearl is produced. After lunch, take in a visit to the Pearl Riggers Museum then make a brief stop at Broome’s cemetery, filled with the gravestones of Japanese, Afghan and Malay pearlers. An adventurous finish to our day taking a camel safari ride along Cable Beach with the sun setting out to sea. It is magical beyond belief, with the sea wind in your hair, the outback stretching out one side and the Indian Ocean to the other. **Please note: 90kg weight restrictions apply to camel ride.

Day 3 Cruise Fitzroy Crossing
Heading east, travel the Great Northern Highway to the township of Derby, the first town settled in the Kimberley, and home of the Boab Tree. Break for lunch here then make a visit to the Information Centre and Derby Wharf before continuing on to Fitzroy Crossing for your overnight stay.

Day 4 Cruise Indigenous Halls Creek
This morning, check-out and head to Geikie Gorge to take a cruise on the Fitzroy River. Witness the spectacular geography of the area, freshwater crocodiles and abundant birdlife, and gain insight into the Kimberley region’s rich indigenous history and culture. Return to Fitzroy River Lodge for lunch then travel through the open grasslands of the cattle stations to Halls Creek.

Day 5 Kununurra
Departing Halls Creek, parallel the Durack Range to the Argyle Diamond Mine. Take in a ground tour of the mine, the world’s largest supplier of natural coloured diamonds, from exotic champagne diamonds to the remarkably rare pink diamond. After lunch, take an amazing scenic flight over Lake Argyle, the Bungle Bungle Range and the Argyle  Diamond Mine landing at Kununurra.

Day 6 Kununurra
A relaxed and awe-inspiring day today as you cruise the famous Ord River with its majestic appeal, rugged landscapes and plentiful wildlife. After lunch, return to Durack country to Kununurra for a free afternoon.

Day 7 Katherine
This morning, cross the border into the Northern Territory before breaking at Timber Creek. Then venture east along the Victoria Highway, stopping for lunch at Victoria River Crossing, before continuing on to the thermal hot springs on the outskirts of Katherine.

Day 8 Kakadu
Enjoy a guided gorge cruise on the tranquil calm green waters of the Katherine River taking in some of the park’s 13 Gorges. Later, travel to Pine Creek for lunch at the unique Lazy Lizard Tavern which is constructed from termite mound mud bricks. Your afternoon takes you to the picturesque and refreshing Edith Falls, then into World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park, a landscape of contrasts that spans over 19,000sq km and will tantalise the senses with its abundance of flora, fauna, dreamtime connections and stunning vistas.

Day 9 Kakadu
Taking to the skies, enjoy a 30-minute scenic flight over the Archway, Arnhem land escarpments, East Alligator Valley, Mikinj Valley Billabongs and Magela Floodplains. In Jabiru, visit the Bowali Visitor Centre and the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, then lunch at Cooinda Lodge before embarking on a Yellow Water Wetlands Cruise, taking in part of the South Alligator River floodplain. Birdlife includes tiny azure kingfishers and white-bellied sea eagles, long-legged brolgas, jabirus and masses of magpie geese which migrate to Kakadu each dry season. Buffalo and brumbies roam the area and it’s Crocodylus central with an estimated four crocodiles per 100sqm.

Day 10 Darwin
This morning, traverse the Magela floodplains and pass spectacular escarpments to the aboriginal rock art site of Ubirr where your guide takes you through the natural stone galleries giving an insight into the culture associated with these intriguing works of art. Discover paintings of spirit characters and the famous x-ray art depicting the internal structure of some of the animals of this country. Then make the last leg of your journey to Darwin, taking a city sights tour including a visit to the Museum and Art Gallery that depicts the destructive force of Cyclone Tracy.

Day 11 Darwin
Today, discover Litchfield National Park, taking in the inspiring views of Tabletop Range, a sandstone plateau adorned with a curtain of cascading waterfalls. Marvel at the termite mounds and learn how these astonishing structures are built by armies of tiny insects. Then make your way to Florence Falls look-out before making your way to Litchfield Café for lunch. Your afternoon takes you to nearby Wangi Falls, where year-round currents pour into a large swimming hole. Enjoy a refreshing dip before you make your way back to Darwin. This evening dine out, enjoying a sumptuous seafood buffet whilst admiring the sunset over Darwin Harbour.

Day 12
