The province has the richest marine biodiversity in the world which is why so many divers flock to this area. There are orchids, marsupials, birds of paradise, mountains, islands, rainforest, waterfalls, hot springs and skull caves as well as a fascinating local history.

Popular attractions include Malacanang Palace, the official residence of the Philippine heads of state; Rizal Park, Paco Park or Intramuros the old walled city, Quiapo and Chinatown for a dash of local colour. For more outdoor fun and entertainment, there are sunset cruises around Manila Bay and open-air cultural events held Friday evenings at Paco Park, Saturday evenings at Puerta Real in Intramuros and Sunday afternoons at Rizal Park. There are delightful beaches on the islands of Lantau, Lamma and Cheung Chau.

Widely regarded as the citadel of China’s modern economy, the city also serves as one of the most important cultural, commercial, financial, industrial and communications centres of China. Shanghai is also one of the world’s busiest ports and became the largest cargo port in the world in 2005. Shanghai is known as the ‘Paris of the East’ with the best skyline in Asia, reflecting both Oriental and European influences. In recent years, a number of modern buildings have been added to the city, such as the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Library, Shanghai Stadium, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai Circus City, Shanghai City-Planning Exhibition Hall and Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai Science & Technology Museum.

Arrives at 07:00 – Departs 18:00 Busan is a city located in the south-eastern province of South Gyeongsang, South Korea. It is South Korea’s second-largest metropolis after Seoul. It is the largest port city in South Korea and the fifth largest port in the world. Busan has some historic sights, beautiful beaches, healing hot springs and inspirational nature reserves. Each autumn, the city conducts an international film festival. Visitors will also want to see the Beomeo-a Temple, one of the country’s five Great Temples. Haeundae Beach is one of Busan’s most popular attractions; people come from all over the country, particularly in late July and early August. The city is also famous for its seafood. The Busan fish market has a huge selection of fresh seafood in the early morning. Although primarily known as a port, the city has many steep hills, creating a very unusual mix of mountains and ocean.

Tue 21 Jul - Osaka, Japan

Arrives at 07:00 – Departs 19:00 Osaka is a city in the Kansai region of Japan’s main island of Honshu. It is located at the mouth of the Yodo River on Osaka Bay. It is well-known for its abundance of excellent restaurants and the performing arts of Kabuki and Bunraku. The city also boasts an impressive aquarium and superb Museum of Oriental Ceramics. The city’s busy Namba and Umeda districts are renowned for their nightlife and the Dotonburi area is particularly lively after dark. Universal Studios Japan, a 140-acre theme park in Osaka, is enormously popular. The Port of Osaka’s most famous attraction is Osaka Castle. It is the symbol of the city, containing 13 structures that are official national Important Cultural Assets including the grand gates and turrets on the outer moat. The Castle is a magnificent sight, with grand high walls, a wide moat, and ornamental tile roofs and carved reliefs, all gilded in gold.

Wed 22 Jul - Shimizu, Japan

Arrives at 12:00 – Departs 21:00 Shimizu is a town located in Suntō District, Shizuoka, Japan. Shimizu is located at the northern end of Izu Peninsula. In 2005, Shimizu was absorbed by the neighbouring city of Shizuoka. The Kakita River flows through the town. The Port of Shimizu is famous for its Japanese mandarin oranges, and there are many green tea farms in the mountains surrounding the city. The port is the country’s leading tuna landing fishing port. The Port of Shimizu is located in a beautiful area with many opportunities for travellers. Within the city is the S-Pulse Dream Plaza, a modern complex that contains Japan’s first sushi museum, Chibimaruko-chan Land, and the Shimizu Soccer Museum. Miho no Matsubara is the peninsula stretching into Matsubara Bay. With wonderful green pine trees, white waves on a crystal blue sea, and great views of Mount Fuji in the background. The Port of Shimizu is just 37 kilometres southeast of the famous Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest mountain and a sacred site. This dormant volcano last erupted in 1708. You can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Fuji from the very popular Hakone resort.

Arrives at 06:00  Yokohama is the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture and the second-largest city in Japan by population after Tokyo. It lies on Tokyo Bay, south of Tokyo, in the Kantō region of the main island of Honshū. It is a major commercial hub of the Greater Tokyo Area. Yokahama offers a wide variety of attractions. The historic port area is Kannai. Next, to the waterfront, Yamashita Park in Yokohama Marine Tower, the tallest inland lighthouse in the world. Further inland lies Yokohama Chinatown, the largest Chinatown in Japan and one of the largest in the world. Nearby is Yokohama Stadium, the Silk Center, and the Yokohama Doll Museum. Isezakichō and Noge areas offer many colourful shops and bars. The futuristic Minato Mirai 21 harbourside redevelopment offers many points of interest. The highlights are the Landmark Tower which is the tallest building in Japan, Queen’s Square Yokohama (a shopping mall) and the Cosmo Clock 21, which was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world when it was built in 1989 and conveniently doubles as “the world’s biggest clock”. What is the cancellation procedure? / Can I cancel or make changes to my booking? If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, contact the MyDiscoveries Reservations team on 1300 404 606. Once we have received your verbal request for cancellation we will ask you to confirm the request in writing (email or post is fine) so that we can accurately start processing the cancellation. Make sure you include your travel voucher number and traveller names when requesting and confirming the cancellation. Please be aware that the travel operator may impose cancellation fees. In addition, MyDiscoveries will charge a AUD $100 per person cancellation fee for cancellations outside our 30 Day Booking Guarantee period.
How do I book shore excursions? This depends on the cruise line. Bookings for shore excursions can only be made once your cruise has been paid in full and the cruise line has opened up the booking capability in their system (typically this is around 6 months before departure).
