Kyoto - Shizuoka

This morning we visit Nijo Castle, the Kyoto residence of the Tokugawa Shogunate and is designated a UNESCO world heritage site. After we relax in the Arashiyama District, visit to the Togetsu Bridge, the landmark of Western Kyoto for over four hundred years. Then stroll through Bamboo Grove one of Kyoto top sights and standi amongst the swaying stalks of bamboo. It’s like being in another world! Later, we board the Shinkansen Bullet train from Kyoto to Shizuoka. Travelling at speeds up to 280km/h it provides an incredible experience as the Japanese countryside zips by. Today we drive to Hama-Rikyu, a beautiful landscape garden in central Tokyo featuring seawater ponds which change level with the tides, and a teahouse on an island where visitors can rest and enjoy the scenery. Then we relax on a Sumida River cruise. Later, stroll through the Asakusa Kannon Temple one of Tokyo’s most colourful and popular temples before browsing for souvenirs at Nakamise Shopping Street. Travel by bullet train to Kyoto, Japan’s former capital city, and weave between temples, shrines, palaces and gardens. Lucky travellers may even spot a geisha. Get caught up in the fast pace, neon flights and bright streets of Tokyo. Admire the lofty, snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji and be treated to breath-taking views of the surrounding landscape. See heritage samurai residences, traditional Japanese villages, and historic town districts. Take one of Japan’s most famous castles in Matusmoto and look out for the freely roaming deer in Nara Park.

When will my booking be confirmed? Once your MyDiscoveries holiday voucher has been purchased you will be contacted by a member of the MyDiscoveries Reservations team. MyDiscoveries will work with the tour operator to get you booked onto your preferred travel dates and will send you an email to confirm your booking information. If for any reason we are unable to book you onto your preferred dates please refer to the MyDiscoveries 30 Day Booking Guarantee to understand our refund policy. When booking in to your travel dates, make sure you have your travel voucher number, traveller names and details of any special requirements.
What is the cancellation procedure? / Can I cancel or make changes to my booking? If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, contact the MyDiscoveries Reservations team on 1300 404 606. Once we have received your verbal request for cancellation we will ask you to confirm the request in writing (email or post is fine) so that we can accurately start processing the cancellation. Make sure you include your travel voucher number and traveller names when requesting and confirming the cancellation. Please be aware that the travel operator may impose cancellation fees. In addition, MyDiscoveries will charge a AUD $100 per person cancellation fee for cancellations outside our 30 Day Booking Guarantee period.
When will I receive my tour documentation? This one depends on the tour operator.
What type of clothes should I bring? Bring comfortable walking shoes, a sweater, clothes you can layer, an all-weather jacket, and an umbrella.
