Depart 16:00 Brisbane is the capital and most populated city in the state of Queensland, Australia. It is situated at a bend of the Brisbane River, approximately 23 kms from its mouth at Moreton Bay. The city itself is very hilly; the CBD is only 2.2km and is easy to walk on foot Popular tourist and recreation areas in Brisbane include the South Bank Parklands, Roma Street Parkland, the City Botanic Gardens, Brisbane Forest Park and Portside Wharf. The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary opened in 1927 and was the world’s first koala sanctuary Other attractions in Brisbane include galleries, wildlife parks, museums, markets and adventures. Visitors can relax at beautiful beaches and explore the river, bay, parklands, forests and mountains. There are festivals and events galore too

Arrive 08:00 – Depart 18:00 Alotau is the capital of the Milne Bay Province, which lies at the most south-eastern tip of PNG. It is a very scenic town on the north shore of Milne Bay. It is a quiet, friendly provincial town, and operates successfully as a scuba diving base. Ecotourism is being developed here focusing on the rainforest, trekking, bird watching, bat caving, fishing, diving, snorkelling, war sites, surfing and cultural sites of interest. The province has the richest marine biodiversity in the world, which is why so many divers come to the area. There are orchids, marsupials, birds of paradise, mountains, islands, rainforest, waterfalls, hot springs and skull caves as well as a fascinating local history.

Wed 26 Feb - Kitava Island

Arrive 08:00 – Depart 16:00 Kitava is one of the Trobriand Islands, an archipelago of coral atolls off the eastern coast of New Guinea. They are situated in Milne Bay Province in Papua New Guinea. Most indigenous inhabitants live on the main island of Kiriwina, which is also the location of the government station, Losuia. Kitava is located 25km’s from Kiriwina. Other major islands in the group are Kaileuna and Vakuta. The group is considered to be an important tropical rainforest ecoregion in need of conservation. Kitava island and the other Trobriand islands are famous for their culture and huge yam gardens, which have cultural significance in tribal rituals. Attractions include a village tour, numerous freshwater holes, burial caves, yam houses and ceremonial dances.

Thu 27 Feb- Rabaul

Arrive 08:00 – Depart 17:00 Rabaul is a township in East New Britain province, Papua New Guinea. The town was the provincial capital and most important settlement in the province until it was destroyed in 1994 by falling ash of a volcanic eruption. After the eruption the capital was moved to Kokopo, about 20 kilometres away. Rabaul is continually threatened by volcanic activity due to being built on the edge of Rabaul caldera, a flooded caldera of a large volcano. Rabaul lies on the Gazelle Peninsula and vies with Madang for the title of the most beautiful town in Papua New Guinea. Spread out around the rim of Simpson Harbour, Rabaul is a well laid out town with all facilities within walking distance. It has a busy market, selling fresh produce, local cigars and betel nut, is located on the main road from Tokua Airport near Supabake Bakery. At the waterfront are boats for travel to the outer islands or for a spot of fishing. As a tourist destination Rabaul is popular for SCUBA diving, snorkelling sites and its spectacular harbour. Visitors will find a treasure trove of World War 2 relics, tunnels and caverns to explore within driving distance of Rabaul.

Arrives 09:00 – Departs 17:00 The Kiriwina Islands (once known as the Trobriand Islands) are a 450 km² archipelago of coral atolls off the eastern coast of New Guinea. They are part of the nation of Papua New Guinea and are situated in Milne Bay Province. Most of the population of 12,000 indigenous inhabitants live on the main island of Kiriwina, which is also the location of the government station, Losuia. Other major islands in the group are Kaileuna, Vakuta and Kitava. The group is considered to be an important tropical rainforest ecoregion in need of conservation. The people of the area are mostly subsistence horticulturalists who live in traditional settlements. Cruises operate year round from Australia, Fiji and Tahiti. The weather is reasonable to hot all year round, with rainy periods experienced roughly from November to April.

What is the cancellation procedure? / Can I cancel or make changes to my booking? If for any reason you need to cancel your booking, contact the MyDiscoveries Reservations team on 1300 404 606. Once we have received your verbal request for cancellation we will ask you to confirm the request in writing (email or post is fine) so that we can accurately start processing the cancellation. Make sure you include your travel voucher number and traveller names when requesting and confirming the cancellation. Please be aware that the travel operator may impose cancellation fees. In addition, MyDiscoveries will charge a AUD $100 per person cancellation fee for cancellations outside our 30 Day Booking Guarantee period.
How do I book shore excursions? This depends on the cruise line. Bookings for shore excursions can only be made once your cruise has been paid in full and the cruise line has opened up the booking capability in their system (typically this is around 6 months before departure).
Can I take alcohol on my cruise? This depends on the cruise line, however, the in most instances the answer is no.
What will I pay for on board? This depends on the cruise line and the type of fare you have purchased. To find out the specifics for the cruise you are interested in please contact us on 1300 404 606.
I haven’t received my MyDiscoveries voucher yet. What do I do? If you have not received your voucher contact MyDiscoveries on 1300 404 606 and we will resend your voucher by email or post.

How do I take advantage of the 5 monthly payments plan? At time of booking online, you should be able to select our 5 monthly instalment plan as a payment option. If booking over the phone, please mention you wish to pay in 5 monthly payments and our team will ensure this is set up. This is a free of charge service that allows you to pay off your holiday in 5 equal payments. How does it work? Pay only 1/5th of the total of your Holiday at time of booking. Your remaining 4 payments will be taken automatically from the same credit card on the same day of the next 4 months. Easy!
